First of all to my Dreamwidth friends: Sorry I haven't commented or posted as much. My LJ can get pretty active and I joined so many heavily active groups that I kinda get distracted reading and participating in everything. ^^;

*cough* So anyway disk 2 of Angelic Layer... is it odd that I really, REALLY wanna get one of those dolls now?! I want an Angel version of my OC so badly!!!

The show itself is really cute so far. Once in a while it's almost so childish in theme I kinda get embarrassed that I'm watching this. ^///^; But it's just SO CUTE that I get over the feeling oretty quick. The concept is awesome (And I'm starting to believe JK Rowling is a closet anime fan. Special egg that only opens in a bath is sounding REALLY familiar right now.)

I say disk 2, but I actually watched part of 3 as well. 2 ended in the middle of the match between the cheating sisters, and I was too freaked out to not put in the next dvd!!!!

I'm fond of E-Chan. Another series where the scientists are on crack. Gotta love it!

So thumbs up for now. Disk 3 tomorrow! X3

OKAY, I AM OFFICIALLY LOVING THIS SHOW NOW, AND LAVI IS MY FAVORITE CHARACTER. I NEED PART TWO NOW.
So now I'm done with the first disc (eps 1-7), I can say what I think so far...

Allen Walker is absolutely adorable. I did not expect this.

It was soooooo nice to wake up, roll over, and discover the unslept-on side of the bed was cold. <3

IT WAS 80 FUCKING DEGREES IN THIS HOUSE LAST NIGHT. 80. THE THERMOSTAT TOLD ME THIS.

And it wouldn't have been so bad if I'd have gotten some warning that we were gonna try this beforehand, but I come home to a hot house AND since I keep my door closed to keep the cats out and my window was still shut, an even hotter bedroom. NOT A FUN SURPRISE.
All that aside, HAPPY 4TH OF JULY to all my American friends!!! I am currently sporting my geek!America clothes (Red shirt with some generic anime chick on it, a Wii baseball cap, and jeans)

We don't have much planned until later today, so I'm gonna try to finish disk 1 of D.Gray-Man.

I had a little trouble watching it while posting last time... Alot happens in this series and I know next-to-nothing about it, so I think I'll just write a summary reaction once I finish the first disk. Once I get a feel for the series I can do the as-I-watch commentary.
That... that is... that has GOT to be the saddest version of Hughes's death...

*cries* ENVY YOU BASTARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Or BICH!!!!! depending on what gender you view Envy as)

EITHER WAY, WHY HUGHES, WHY?!?!??
I've been in the mood for some good Watanuki/Domeki ficcage...

Anyone have recommendations?

God that ending is beautiful....

Well, it's been a fun month, but I finally finished my Yu Yu Hakusho rewatch...

You know, I go through my fads just like everyone else, but I think if I were perfectly honest with myself, Yu Yu Hakusho is my true favorite anime... Fullmetal, Fruits Basket, whatever, yeah I love 'em but once they end the passion kinda goes with them... if I rewatch/reread those it's just for the nostalgia... I've seen Yusuke vs Togoro a millon times and I STILL shout at the tv in excitement every time I see it. Hell, Yusuke vs Jin still brings the same goofy grin to my face it did back when I first saw it on Cartoon Network...

...I'm glad I finally own all the dvds, but I wish I could have afforded the dvds and box sets back when they had all the bonus features and commentaries... It's kind of a shame... but at least now I can watch this whenever I want...

But that ending really is amazing... It really gives the series closure... Plus it's got the entire English version of the opening!

WELL! Now I'm onto D.Gray-Man. This better be as cool as everyone says or I'll be pissed!!
LLLLLLLLLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!

ASGHKLHFDAA ANIMATED LING AND XING CREW LOOK AWESOME~ CAN. NOT. WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alphonse T-shirt art has been sent in. Because the door has too many details to properly airbrush, nekkid waiting Alphose was scratched. T-T

So this is what the final idea was:

BACK

Teenage!Al (you will never know how proud of myself I was to draw a teenage version of Al that actually looked accurate.) standin' with his arms folded and a smirk on his face. The armor is standing behind him, back facing us, with its arms ALSO crossed.

FRONT

Armor head with that snake cross design and FMA written somewhere on the shirt.

Because I know jack squat about airbrushing, I told the guy to do whatever he wants with the armor head, but the pic in the back HAS ta be at least close to what I drew. The armor design and Al HAVE to look like that, but otherwise he's free to do as he pleases. I even loaned him my artbook 2 for ideas. I can't wait to see how it turns out!

So I'm on ff.net, when I see By Chance or Changing Course updated...

Cue my squeals of pure joy. BCoCC is one of my all-time favorite FMA fics. I've read this thing probably 10 times at least. It is just that awesome. There is a very good reason this thing has 300+ reviews 11 chapters in.

Anyway the author had gotten Carpal Tunnel syndrome and thus her updates took longer (to be expected) I think it's been nearly a year since her last update- I was starting to believe the fic was going to be left unfinished...

So cue my sheer joy when I see the fic on the front page. I was freaking out...

...only to click on it and find the 'update' was an author's note explaining why it's taking so long (She gives completely understabdable reasons), that she has the basic plot down for 10 more chapters or something (yay!) but it may take awhile (damn!), and she's doing a faq for the fic to make up for not updating and to give the fans something to read as she writes.

*Cue complete and utter dissapointment* ;-;
Since Otakon is only a few weeks away, I've started my annual ritual of looking up the dvds and comics I plan to buy so I can have an idea of what I'll be spending ahead of time, and if I can splurge a little on a toy or two. (Thank you bestbuy.com for having an anime section that sorts by release date and has releases through August)

I have divided my DVD list into 3 sections: MUST HAVE, Want, and kinda interested in.

After that, I looked them up at RightStuf so I could get a reasonable idea of what it'll be selling for at the convention and the actual retail value. I then added these two costs up and now have the estimate of the mostt and possibly least these dvds may cost me. I have learned a few things from this:

1) My awesome calculator I've had since 8th grade is more revolutionary than I thought. Not only is this thing basically a graphing calculator without the graphing, but this baby has a rechargable battery that ONLY carges via solar power. (never had to change batteries on the thing and now I know why) Pro-environmental tool from the future or what?!

2) Note to self: Even if the DVDs stop coming to your store, just bite the bullet and go to the other Best Buy to get them... it's better to spend a little money over a period of time than to get behind and face realizing how much you're really spending.

3) HA! I can forget the Want and kinda interested list!

4) FUNI, PLEASE OH PLEASE OH PLEASE GO AT LEAST AS LOW AS RIGHTSTUF'S SALES!!! *sobs* I'M BEGGING HERE!!!

Now, some of the things on my NEED list have release dates after Otakon, so I may be spending less than I calculated anyway. If that is so *crosses fingers* The hunt for Kurama plushie will be on. A quest of epic proportions. And I want to find a Sailor Jupiter plush. My Sailor team has been incomplete for too long!

And THANK GOD the only manga I'm planning to collect is Tsubasa.... *sigh*

Now I remember why I'm always hesitant to watch past the 3 Psychics saga...

As much as I love intelligence in my anime, I LOATHE when the plot is drawn out, and there is a lot of that in this chapter (plus Kuwabara=damsel in distress is funny to think about, but annoying when it actually happens.)

So I deleted my two amvs from Youtube. It kinda sucks; my FMA Move Along video had quite a few hits, but I'm not gonna get my account deleted for videos these stupid copyright people didn't even notice for years. I have videos on that account I'd rather not loose (Like the Toilet Paper saga starring Mandy or that Steve Blum shout out to Liz I spent 5 hours in line to get)

Besides, both amvs had subtitles, and youtube took off the audio to What if God Was One of Us, so it's not a huge loss.

What pissed me off was the big red "YOU TOTALLY INFRINGED THE COPYRIGHT!!!!" note when I signed in meantioned my Mahoraba video...

HEY, MORONS!!!! THAT WAS 3-4 YEARS AGO! YOU DELETED IT, I WAS EMBARRASSED, AND NOW IT'S OVER! STOP REMINDING ME ABOUT IT!!!! IT'S NOT EVEN ON MY DAMN VIDEO LIST, I CHECKED!!!

*huff huff*

I just found out there's a YYH and Sailor Moon abridged (done by Lanipator (DBZA Vegita) and Megami33 (Bulma))

Here's what I've noticed about abridged stuff, if it's just 1-2 people working on it, it kinda sucks, especially when there are few sound affects and very quiet background music. DBZ is probably the best one out there because they have at least 4-5 people doing the voices, and there's good music and sound affects with it. REALLY well done abridge.

And I mean Lanipator is a GREAT Yusuke/Kuwabara/Koenma Shaggy, so it's not the actors themselves, it's that he's doing all those characters AS WELL AS Botan/Keiko/Everyone else; plus he writes; plus he does the sound and graphics. It stretches ya thin and the quality can't reach it's max potential.

What I've found for these is that the little bonus videos (Yusuke Rants, bloopers, etc, are way funnier than the actual episodes because they don't require as much.

And those are my thoughts of the day. Toodles!

Edit: And all that said, I just saw the abridged movie, AND THIS GUY IS A F*CKING GOD. WAAAH that was hilarious!

AND SERIOUSLY, HOW THE HELL DID HE GET CHUCK HUBER TO GUEST STAR?!

*SOB* I JUST FOUND OUT MY ESCAFLOWNE BOX SET IS A BOOTLEG!!!

Sure it was a gift from a coworker I barely knew right before he quit almost 4 years ago, but still. MY BEAUTIFUL COLLECTION OF DVDS/VHS, AND NOW I FIND A BOX SET AMONG THEM THAT ISN'T LEGAL?!

*sob* And I don't want to get rid of it and I don't think I'll have enough extra money to buy it at Otakon...

I know this may sound like a small thing to freak out over... especially since I didn't buy it, but as a serious collector of dvds and comics (and not just anime dvds and manga) This is QUITE disheartening to discover...

....I'm gonna go crawl into a corner and cry now. g'nite.

YYH episode 69. BEST EPISODE EVER.

Gah Kurama looks so cute when he's hanging upside down and his eyes look so adorably big! Ah! And this whole episode shows his intelligence and street smarts so MAGNIFICENTLY I can't help but to fangirl all over again!!! X3

But, now I'm done with the 3 psychics saga and am onto the spirit detective one. And since it's raining like cats and dogs today I find a weekend marathon to be a great idea!

Oh but I do remember something tragic does happen during this saga... oh but Kuwabara plays his perfect role as damsel in distress and we get to see Yusuke the demon... but Idk if the hilarity and awesome counter the fact they had to kill a kid... did the kid even come back to life? GAH I DON'T REMEMBER!!!!

Well, onto disk 3 of season 3!

WHY DID I TRY TO PEN IN THIS DRAWING?!?!

I FINALLY got an AWESOME picture of teenage!Al and the armor, and like a fucking MORON I tried to pen the damn thing!!!

Thank got I only attempted the outline of Al's face before I realized my horrible mistake, AND THANK THE SWEET HEAVENS ABOVE I had white out... T_T

I'm just gonna wait for the whiteout to dry... and then I'm gonna color... *sigh* I really need to work on my penning skills... I'm way too much of a sketcher.

Another weekend, which means my YYH rewatch continues. I'm finally on "season 3" and it looks like I'll reach the 3 psychics mini saga by tonight! Maybe I'll even get through the Spirit Detective saga by the weekend! X3 Demon Yusuke is nothing short of awesome.
Dear one of my... *counts* 6 bosses:

There are three kinds of "their"s. The word "their" is used when a group posseses something. "There" is used when addressing a location or when saying something such as, "There are 5 potates in the cornfield." "They're" is a shortened version of "they are".

When I see a sentence start like this in an email, "Their is a few..." I want to slam my head against the desk and cry.

Dear fanfic writers:

As a person with an oc that I fondly pair up with a certain red-haired fox demon with an affinity for roses, I totally get it.

However: 1) I make fun of myself all the time for doing it, and 2) the art and stories I fantasize about will never see the light of day, aside from a few friends and maybe one pic I'm working on and only because I'm loving the detail. *cough*

What I'm saying is this: STOP FLOODING FF.NET WITH YOUR OC/ELDER SIBLING FICS. I HAVE ZILCH INTEREST IN READING THEM AND AM TIRED OF SEEING THEM EVERYWHERE. THANK YOU.

Also, I do not want to see a ton of smut when reading EdRoy, and I DO NOT want to fucking see Ed drinking from a baby bottle in parental fics.

All I want is a good action/adventure story with a decent plot where Roy and Ed treat each other like equals, and have it include a pinch of drama, angst, and injury with a mostly happy ending. Smut is fine if the fic pairs them up, but it can't be the main focus of the story. Are there really only 3 writers I can find who do this consistently well?! REALLY?!

AND IF I EVER RUN INTO THE PERSON WHO WRITES ED FEEDING FROM A BABY BOTTLE AT 16 FUCKING YEARS OLD, EVEN AS A JOKE ON ED, I WILL PUNCH THEM IN THE FACE.

Dear male anime friends of mine:
I don't like Narutard, I'm not a fan of serious samurai stuff (Kenshin is an exception), and if the point of a series is blood freely flowing from a guys neck while his killer is raping his girlfriend, I'm not interested.

Short story long: Surprise, I'm a girl. Don't look like a shocked and stricken puppy if I say I don't like a particular series specifically aimed for men/boys, and don't ask what's wrong with me either. Someday I'll make you sit through Peach Girl and act the same way when you freak out if you keep this up.

Dear FUNi:

Liscense Sailor Moon. Please.

And Bandai, get Summer Wars. That looks AWESOME.

Sincerely,
Kyoko

Ya know... now that I'm actually paying attention... It's pretty oddly obvious Yusuke and Kuwabara are in love with each other, especially Kuwabara.

And, I mean, this is not some stupid fangirl fantasy. The thought of this pairing makes my skin crawl... but if you ever see the episode where Yusuke dies again, it is REALLY hard to watch because of Kuwabara's blubbering and near love confessions. I wanted to gag. I ended up showing the episode to my guy friends who were really into YYH at the time, and even they squirmed at the ep. (Good times... that'll show 'em for making me read GTO.)

But now that I'm rewatching this again... I now see the signs were there... and all I can say is...

THANK GOD FOR KEIKO AND MAKAI TOURNAMENT!!!! WHOO!

Also, I never actually got involved with the YYH fandom, but I hear many girls were fond of the Kurama/Hiei pairing, and putting my own feelings aside, I just can't see it... Like, I really tried to see it, and I can't... I just don't get it... *shrugs*

Um... other than that... went to the comic shop today. They helped me get the materials I needed to properly store my Sonic comics. WHOO!! Now they don't have to be stacked on top of each other in front of my novels under my Haruhi box. =)
